Hi xsafrank

I contacted Grant Kaplan's offices in JHB concerning a L-1 visa in middle June 2008. The next day his office in Boca Raton contacted me to arrange a telephone conferance with Mr Grant Kaplan.

I spoke with him and he assed my case. As with all immigration lawyers, he gave me little information, and just said they can help me.

I paid a 50% deposit and signed a client attorney aggreement. As soon as the money went off my credit card, I got a flood on information and was assigned my own paralegal. They have been working on my case and my petition should go in this week to USCIS.

So far I am very happy, and if I wanted to do this again, I would choose them.

Unfortunatley, they cannot gaurantee the outcome, but they choose clients carefully. This in-turn gives them a high success rate. That is at leased what I think.

Hope this helps,

I know of a good one, too, in Tulsa, Oklahoma: Campbell Cooke. I don't have his website but you can google him. He has a good reputation and will work hard for you.

Update on my experience with Grant Kaplan Immigration Attorney.

I got a L1 visa in August 2008 using Grant Kaplan, and moved to the US in September 2008. In May 2009, I applied to have my L1 extended, also using Grant Kaplan and was granted a 2 year extension. I then used him again for my change of status to permanent residence. I am still waiting for the outcome of that.I believe he will be in SA in October 2009 conducting interviews. Maybe contact his office at Grant Kaplan for more information or email suzib[at]gkaplanlaw.com

Howzit Piks, did you get your PR yet? What L1 visa were you on, L1A or L1B? What was the procedure to get the PR, i.e to convert from L1 to PR? What did it cost.
Thanks,
Heran

Hey Heran.

I applied for my PR in September 2009. In November 2009 I received a Request For Evidence (RFE)from USCIS. They wanted more updated documentation and sales documentation for 1 year, so I do not have my PR yet. I have send all this off to them.

I am on a L1A visa. The procedure to change from L1A to PR was pretty much the same documentation required for my initial L1A petition, but I needed to prove that I was indeed doing business in the US and that I have employees working for me. The cost was about $9,500 for my wife and I including attorneys fees and USCIS fees.
