[Slaptjips]

I just received a brochure from a friend in SA that highlights poverty and decrepid living conditions for thousands of whites in South Africa. While I understand that poverty is a universal problem, I was shocked to see the pictures of these people living in abject squalor. When did this happen? How did this happen? I guess I am just very naive abotu what's happening in my native country. It really saddened me. I have asked my friend to identify two families living like this - especially those in need of medical care - and I want to send over a little something every month. I don't know if this will merely ease my conscience. I don't know because the images hit me in the gut and caused an unexpected response...
