Just when we thought Houston was having a lekker mild summer for a change, summer arrived with a vengeance... not to mention the humidity. It's 101 deg F here in NW Houston and the humidity feels like a sauna. But then again, August is here tomorrow, traditionally our hottest month of the year anyway.
Thought we could swim today, but our pool temperature is 94 deg F - like a tub! Thank goodness for air-conditioning! How did we live without it in our homes back in SA?!
Hope everyone is doing well in your hot spots of the country.
PS. Why is the forum so quiet lately?

Summer Has Arrived With A Vengeance

The weather man on our TV station was saying that all sorts of records have been broken this year.
We are sadly down on our rainfall in SC this year - something like 5inches - and they are considering declaring us in an official drought.
It's no wonder we are in a drought because the moisture is all floating around in the air! We have had very high humidity.
We have had some good thunder storms with lots of lightning and even some hail. My husband's boss was caught out in the hail in his fancy new car. It was not a pretty sight! Some of the hail must have been the size of golf balls!
We have spent quite a lot of time at the pool and I have to admit that even though I dislike cold water, some days the water has been too warm to be refreshing, even for me!
I have been very grateful for aircon. I can't imagine how we lived without it in SA. I suppose the houses are built differently and take advantage of through breezes and huge windows. I often want to throw all the windows and doors open, but that would just invite all the bugs inside.
