  2. A fellow South African and a very good friend of mine, was recently laid off by the company who promised to help him getting a Green Card. He needs a job urgently in order to keep is Visa intact. He is an experienced .net developer. ( C#, SCSF, CAB) Please contact him direct via his e-mail if you know of any company who can help. He really doesn't want to move his family back to SA after 5 years in the USA. Contact e-mail: edmund[at]herbtech.org
  3. You got good advice re your interview from other members already. If I may add, remember, a smile goes a long way, it cost nothing, it will help you to relax and make the person on the other side more willing to help you. Good luck - I'm sure all will go well.
  4. One day to go and I'm on my way. I will give you some feedback on my trip when I'm back.
  5. We spend a pleasant Labor day with fellow SAners and had a change to discuss our decisions to relocate to the USA. It's been 30 months since we got here. We still love every moment. Our furniture is still in storage and we still have a house in SA but we got along and are more relaxed and happy then ever before. We only now realize how stressed our lives were during the last couple of years in SA. After working hard for 2 years my real estate business is really booming. We built a good credit rating and qualified for major credit cards and 3 car loans and managed to buy a house 6 months ago. We even start to take for granted the fact that we can have a peaceful night’s sleep, without dogs barking or alarms sounding all night. How about parking your car and know it will still be there when you get back? Occasionally forget to lock a door or even close it when you are gone or asleep and still have your belongings the following day and live to talk about it. We can walk through a park or do window shopping on a Sunday evening without fear. Life is really good for us and we are grateful for everything. It was not always easy. We still miss our family and friends, (en die bosveld, wildekus, Kaap en Laeveld), but we appreciate every moment of our new found freedom in our new country. A lot of people are busy and planning the journey we embarked on 30 months ago. I know some of you wonder if it's worth all the effort, money, worries and tears.............absolutely!!! Never give up on your dream. I'm flying back next week for the first time to visit my family, but I will be back home again in 3 weeks. :ilikeit:

    Old Dog

A wealthy old lady decides to go on a photo safari in Africa , taking her faithful aged poodle named Cuddles, along for the company. One day the poodle starts chasing butterflies and before long, Cuddles discovers that he's lost.. Wandering about, he notices a leopard heading rapidly in his direction with the intention of having lunch. The old poodle thinks, "Oh, oh! I'm in deep doo-doo now!" Noticing some bones on the ground close by, he immediately settles down to chew on the bones with his back to the approaching cat. Just as the leopard is about to leap the old poodle exclaims loudly, "Boy, that was one delicious leopard! I wonder if there are any more around here?" Hearing this, the young leopard halts his attack in mid-strike, a look of terror comes over him and he slinks away into the trees. "Whew!", says the leopard, "That was close! That old poodle nearly had me!" Meanwhile, a monkey who had been watching the whole scene from a nearby tree, figures he can put this knowledge to good use and trade it for protection from the leopard. So off he goes, but the old poodle sees him heading after the leopard with great speed, and figures that something must be up. The monkey soon catches up with the leopard, spills the beans and strikes a deal for himself with the leopard. The young leopard is furious at being made a fool of and says, "Here, monkey, hop on my back and see what's going to happen to that conniving canine! Now, the old poodle sees the leopard coming with the monkey on his back and thinks, "What am I going to do now?", but instead of running, the dog sits down with his back to his attackers, pretending he hasn't seen them yet, and just when they get close enough to hear, the old poodle says. "Where's that damn monkey? I sent him off an hour ago to bring me another leopard! Moral of this story.... Don't mess with old farts...age and treachery will always overcome youth and skill
