I haven't see ANY members here living in Maryland.

It's a beautiful state with landscapes that recall the north of England, and with a huge bay (the Chesapeake) that is as maritime and nautical as anywhere in Cape Town. It has the highest average income in the country, yet the cost of living is only slightly higher than the national average.

At the recent world cup rugby final we went to a sports bar near D.C. It's a huge establishment, and it was jam-packed with people from England and South Africa. There must have been several hundred of us S.A. folk, with at least half wearing our Springbok colors. Quite a vibe!

I had a look at Maryland's map - and the state's boundaries had been drawn in a somewhat peculiar fashion, don't you think?

Among the numerous photographs of Maryland posted on the web, this one caught my eye: *Click*

Southern Oregon. Gorgeous - a well-kept secret, if you ask me!

Downtown Portland, Oregon, next to the Willamette River. Pretty isn't? We stay in the City of Beaverton, approximately 12 miles South West from here.

Ai, lovely photo of Portland, Janneman! It's my favourite US city. The only reason we chose Southern Oregon instead is less rain, and my hubby doesn't care for cities. Luckily I now have a couple of girlfriends - one S. African and one Brit - with whom I can go to Portland for weekends. Great city! :ilikeit:

It would be hard for me to come up and do some sight seeing as it seems to look a bit like Melbourne and Brisbane and as beautiful as it looks I would see Australia in it.. but it looks beautiful

Lucky duck - Bear Mountain is gorgeous!

I live in NYC - Queens. It is a melting pot and I love it for its proximity to everything cultural. Your area is wonderful though, we always go there in the fall when the leaves change. That is quite the spectacular sight.
