I miss pies and sausage rolls, even though I can make own.

They don't taste like the ones from Spar that have been sitting in the warmer for a few hours. :D

I never thought that a mutton roast would become a dish for 'special occasions'!

Gemsquash, butternut and hubbardsquash.

I can get butternut for lots of $$ per pound which takes away the enjoyment of eating it.

I do find golden hubbardsquash at Halloween and freeze it for short periods before it spoils in the freezer.

Peppermint crisp - yummy!

Deep water sea fish - yellow tail, kingklip etc. I don't like the fresh water fish except salmon.

LM prawns.

Fish paste - how can you eat toast without it??

Sparletta cream soda - that awful brown stuff from Walmart just doesn't cut it!

Schwepps granedilla and Sparletta sparberry.

I miss real qauvas. :ilikeit:

We found frozen guavas in a Korean store a while ago and they tasted like the Koo tinned guavas, once they were defrosted.

Frozen, they were like eating guava ice cream lollies. Not bad either!

How about mdumbis - I loved those and don't even know what the equivalent would be in the US (if they had such a thing). Boiled and eaten whole with loads of butter. Maybe it is just a Natal thing.

Heh Toks :) Mdumbi is an African potato.

Your little fly is very distracting btw - I thought it was real for a while and got to cursing these dang flies in GA!

I'm going to try attach a picture of the mdumbi. *edited to add the link to the site I got the picture from: http://www.cure.co.za/images/AFW.jpg NB: I do not endorse the site, just pinching their picture!

Okay, okay I'll stop now before I bore everyone and burst into tears!

I am actually in Canada, here it is about $32 for a litre bottle and $24 for a 750ml. I think the US is cheaper.
