H. I don't homeschool, but have lots of friends who do. Homeschooling is huge here. A lot of people homeschool for religious reasons. Each state has it's own regulations regarding homeschooling. In Florida you are allowed to take part in school sports programs even if you homeschool. Our local Gymnastics club has a class specifically for homeschoolers. They also meet every Wed at one of the local parks. There are Homeschool conferences and websites. There are tons of programs to follow and plenty of resources available . Are you still in SA? Homeschooling is much more common and widely accepted here in the US.

Hope this helps.

Here's my opinion....

If you end up in a big city and you don't want your kids to be taught non Christian Liberal principles, you home school.

If you end up in the "platteland" and you don't want your kids to be taught conservative Christian principles, you home school

got it?

I was forced to save my son 18 months ago from our pathetic schooling system and the leftover care-less teachers.

I follow american curriculums because the afrikaans ones are just scary politacally one-sided. We started back at grade 1 and are working at a heavy pace. But by the end of next year he will be one year ahead in maths and on par with Afrikaans ans English on 1st language level for both.

I was not a homeschool advocate and even though we live on the farm, far away from extramurals, I drive everyday to get my kids to socialise and partake in extramurals.

For the first time I can work on my sons character, which I feel is far more valuable than acadamics, because he is home more. Before he used leave home after 6 in the morning and return after 3... there was no time to shape him.

I am pleased and definately want to homeschool my other 3 kids at least in primary school...
